LIAM Sercombe has received some good news hours after it was feared he would miss the rest of the season.
The Oxford United midfielder was thought to be missing forΒ six months after scans confirmed he had ruptured a medial knee ligament last weekend in the 2-0 defeat at Shrewsbury Town.
But after seeing a knee specialist today, the recovery period has been revised down to three or four months, which would see him play again in this campaign.
Earlier head coach Michael Appleton said: "On Sunday and Monday it was quite clear there was a lot of instability in the knee.
"The scan last night showed a complete rupture of his medial ligament, which is probably going to be about six months, regardless of whether he has an operation on it or not."
Sercombe tweeted:
Absolutely devastated π but I will be back π need some positive news from the surgeon today π https://t.co/db2zdCX9GE
