OXFORD United's potential EFL Cup second round opponents include Liverpool, Chelsea and Everton when the draw is made tonight.

Liam Sercombe's 120th-minute winner saw the U's through 1-0 against Birmingham City at St Andrew's last night.

They will be unseeded for the next round, which will be played in the week commencing August 21.

The Premier League clubs not in European competition join the competition at this stage.

The draw will be made after the conclusion of the Luton Town-Aston Villa match, which will be about 10pm if there is a result in 90 minutes.

United have been drawn away for seven League Cup ties in a row, but the prospect of another road trip does not bother head coach Michael Appleton.

He said: "We've been quite successful away from home.

"I think we're a different animal, teams have to come on to us.

"It doesn't matter, but it would be nice to get one of the bigger boys."

Liverpool are one of the biggest names in the hat, but if the U's are drawn away to Jurgen Klopp's side the tie will be played at the Kassam Stadium, due to ongoing redevelopment work at Anfield.

In that eventuality, the EFL board will determine a level of compensation to be paid by Liverpool to the opposing club.

The seedings are yet to be announced and will be influenced by results from this evening's games.
