Bicester Town secretary Roger Wise says transparency is the key if they are to be a successful club, writes Tom St John.

On Monday, Bicester revealed more details of how the club’s new board will operate, as well as their goals for developing football in the area.

The response from the people of Bicester has been tremendous, according to the club, who are preparing to return to the Uhlsport Hellenic League in Division 1 East.

The club were forced to quit their Oxford Road ground in 2011 following a dispute with landlords Bicester Sports Association (BSA).

In a statement, Bicester said the core objective was to give people a say in running of their football club.

It added: “The board will be democratically elected by its members.

Decisions taken by the membership will be decided on a one member, one vote basis. The club will be run as a non-profit organisation.

“We will donate 10 per cent of all membership fees paid to the Hummingbird Centre (cancer charity).”

Wise said: “We’ve got to be transparent so people know what they’re signing up for. They need to know exactly how we plan to operate if they’re going to be involved because ultimately this is their club.”

Meanwhile, Town are inviting people who feel they can play in the Hellenic League to attend their open training sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Pingle Field (6.45pm).
