Charlton United suffered heartbreak as they went down to a late defeat against Kidlington Old Boys in the final of the Oxfordshire Senior League’s Ben Turner Cup at Jordan Hill Sports Ground, Oxford on Easter Monday.

With time running out and the sides locked at 0-0, extra time beckoned, only for Daniel Jones to hit a winner four minutes from time.

Old Boys began the all-Division 1 clash as favourites after doing the double over their opponents in the league.

But they quickly found it difficult to make headway as a determined Charlton restricted their sights of goal.

But the breakthrough finally came when Johnny Richards broke free on the right-hand side before firing across goal for Jones to prod past Charlton keeper Terry Bagnall.

A last-minute equaliser deprived strugglers Charlton United Res of a rare victory in Division 2 at Yarnton Res.

Jason Buck had put the hosts ahead, but a double from Owen Bateman appeared to have secured basement side Charlton just their second league win of the season.

However, Peedell headed home a leveller just seconds from time to wreck Charlton’s hopes.

BSSC Abba returned to the top of Division 2 of the Critchleys UTV League with an emphatic 7-1 home thrashing of basement boys Exeter Rangers.

Shane Probitts led the way with a super treble.

Mark Goode added a brace, with Michael Trafford and Jonny Watts completing the rout.

Exeter’s scorer was Sean Trafford.
