Troy Bryan scored a late winner as Ardley United made it nine wins on the spin with a 1-0 victory at Bracknell Town on Tuesday.

With ten minutes left, it looked as though Ardley’s winning streak would end, but up popped Bryan to score the winner.

The victory saw Kevin Brock’s side move to sixth in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division table five points from fourth-placed Ascot United.

Bracknell threatened to take an early lead, but the league’s leading goalscorer Shane Cooper-Clark could only shoot wide when well-placed.

Ardley were starting to take control of the half and had a string of good chances which they failed to convert.

Bracknell had a great opportunity to take the lead early in the second half, but Ardley keeper Jack Harding blocked Sam Whiting’s shot.

Ardley thought they had broken the deadlock when substitute Andy Prescott headed home, only for it to be chalked off for a foul by Bryan.

Cooper-Clark again fired wide, while at the other end Chris Jackson saw his free kick just clear the bar.

It was Ardley who got the winner ten minutes from time.

Prescott’s pass found Bryan, who with his back to goal turned before forcing the ball past keeper Garry Aulsberry and into the net.

Ardley saw the rest of the game out with little trouble.

On Saturday, Jon Gardner hit a stoppage-time winner as Ardley United beat North Leigh United 1-0 in the Bluefin Sports Challenge Cup quarterfinal at Eynsham Park.

Gardner lashed home a shot through a crowded penalty area with time ticking away.

Ardley are next in action on Tuesday when they play Banbury United in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup semi-final at Thame United’s ASM Stadium.
