Conor Ingram hit a 74th-minute winner as Ardley United came from behind to beat Brimscombe & Thrupp 2-1 at home and record their sixth consecutive success on Saturday.

The result sees Kevin Brock’s side close to within three points of fourth-placed Thame United in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division table.

Brimscombe, hovering a place above the relegation zone, had the better of the first period.

Ardley’s best chance came when Luke Ingram cut infield and his shot was held at full stretch by keeper Danny Hobbs.

The visitors went ahead in the 29th minute when Ardley keeper Jack Harding got a hand to Ben Deakin’s shot, but could not prevent it from dribbling over the line.

Karl Nash then hit the bar with a free-kick.

Ricky Johnson replaced Jon Gardner at half-time and the new formation turned the game in Ardley’s favour.

On 57 minutes, Johnson headed home Luke Ingram’s right-wing cross to bring the sides level.

Ardley now began to take control of the game.

Conor Ingram had a couple of good opportunities to put Ardley in front before finally finding the net with a quarter of an hour remaining, after being set up by his brother Luke.

The victory followed a 2-0 win at bottom side Cheltenham Saracens last Wednesday, when Troy Bryan and Gavin Kidd scored.
