Ardley United’s hopes of getting back into the thick of the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division promotion race were dented when they lost 2-1 at home to leaders Highmooor Ibis on Saturday.

The hosts paid for a string of missed chances.

Highmoor took the lead on six minutes through Anthony White.

Ardley equalised after 19 minutes when a long Adam Beckett throw-in bounced past everyone before Highmoor’s Jemel Forde could only help it on its way into the net for an own goal.

Stephen Peacock restored Highmoor’s lead on 36 minutes.

Ardley had plenty of chances to level in the second half, but Ricky Johnson and Ollie Stanbridge were denied by home keeper Gavin Kidd.

On Saturday, Ardley entertain Holyport.
