Ardley United slipped to their second home defeat in a row as they lost 3-1 to third-placed Flackwell Heath in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division on Saturday.

It saw the Buckinghamshire side complete the double over Kevin Brock’s side, having beaten them 4-2 at Wilks Park in September.

Ardley were put on the back foot early on and went a goal down on 23 minutes, though there was an element of good fortune about it.

Home keeper Jack Harding rushed off his line to challenge Joe Blount on the edge of the area, only for the ball to fall perfectly for Dan Burnell to finish well.

Ardley were struggling to cope with Flackwell’s front men.

And there was little surprise on 38 minutes when the visitors doubled the lead thro-ugh a neat finish from Gavin James.

After the break, Ardley came more into the contest, with former Banbury United striker Ricky Johnson going close.

And they finally clawed one back on 78 minutes.

A left-wing cross from Harry Brock was headed deftly into the net off the near post by Conor Ingram past Robert Bullivant in the Flackwell goal.

Ardley then pushed for the equaliser, only for James to complete his double with a last-minute penalty after ski-pper Ollie Stanbridge brought down Dan Rapley.

On Saturday, Ardley face a trip to leaders Highmoor Ibis.
