Substitute Troy Bryan scored the winner as Ardley United battled back from a goal down to secure a 2-1 victory at Reading Town on Saturday.

The result moved Kevin Brock’s side up to sixth in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division table.

Ardley paid the price for a slow start when Reading went in front on eight minutes.

Tristan Dennis flicked on a corner and Danny Murscroft headed past Jack Harding in the Ardley goal.

However, Ardley levelled within 60 seconds.

Diego Petriaggi capped a fine move when he fired in his first goal of the season from the edge of the penalty area.

After the break, Ardley began to get a grip on proceedings.

But the introduction of Bryan proved crucial.

The striker, who was returning from injury, held the ball up well and proved an effective link for Ardley’s front two.

And it was no surprise when he scored the winner 20 minutes from time.

A centre was headed across goal by Adam Beckett allowing Bryan a tap-in at the far post.

The visitors then held on with little difficulty.

On Saturday, Ardley entertain second-placed Kidlington at Oxford Road.
