Oxfordshire Senior Cup holders Ardley United eased into the quarter-finals with a  4-0 home win against Kidlington on Tuesday.

A Ricky Johnson double, plus goals from Jon Gardner and Callum Convey proved too strong for the Premier Division leaders in a repeat of the last season’s final – and with the same scoreline.

Ardley went ahead on ten minutes when a free-kick from Gardner found Johnson who headed over Mike Bawn in the Kidlington goal.

The hosts doubled the lead on 26 minutes when Joe Eyre’s cross was headed home by Johnson for his second.

Just before the half hour, Gardner made it 3-0 when his cross-shot found the net.

After the break, Jack Harding denied Luke Holden and Lewis Brownhill as Kidlington tried to get back in the game.

But it was all over on 71 minutes when Ardley bagged No 4, Johnson heading a free kick to substitute Callum Convey who volleyed in from 30 yards.

On Saturday, Conor Ingram, Ardley’s new signing from North Leigh, scored a double on his debut as they beat Oxford City Nomads 3-2 at home in the Premier Division.

Ingram opened the scoring for Ardley with a cracking shot in the second minute.

But John Rixon and Rhys Denton hit back to give the visitors a half-time lead.

However, Gavin Kidd scrambled an equaliser in the 78th minute, and Ingram grabbed the winner from an acute angle a minute from time.

This Saturday, Ardley travel to Reading Town in the league.
