Ardley United extended their winning run in Uhlsport Hellenic League to five mat-ches with a 4-0 thrashing of visitors Milton United on Tuesday night.

A double from Jon Gardner, plus strikes from Luke Ing-ram and Kieren Scott saw Kevin Brock’s side go sixth in the Premier Division table.

It helped erase memories of Saturday’s shock 2-1 defeat at home to Western League Division 1 strugglers Chippenham Park in the FA Vase first-round.

Ardley started strongly against Milton, but failed to take their chances and it wasn’t until 34 minutes that they opened their account.

Gardner cut in from the left before curling home a 25-yard shot into the top corner past Milton keeper Craig Griffiths.

A minute before the break Ardley made it 2-0 when Ingram burst forward before his cut-back was slammed into the net by the on-rushing Gardner for his second goal.

Ardley kept up the pressure in the second half and bagged their third goal.

A long kick from Jack Harding found Ollie Stan-bridge whose pass was fired past Griffiths into the corner by Ingram.

The rout was completed on 83 minutes when Ricky Johnson headed Callum Con-vey’s pass into the path of substitute Scott who scored his first Ardley goal.

In Saturday’s Vase tie, the hosts fell behind in the 23rd minute when Mark Robinson headed home.

But Ardley were level six minutes later with Joe Eyre shooting home from 18 yards.

However, Chippenham netted the winner after 67 minutes when George Nash cras-hed a shot in off the underside of the crossbar.

On Saturday, Ardley travel to Ascot United, looking to avenge the 3-0 home mauling they suffered in September.
