Luke Ingram bagged a brace as Ardley United made it three league wins in a row with 4-0 home thumping of Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division leaders Highmoor Ibis on Tuesday.

The result saw Kevin Brock’s seventh-placed side close the gap at the top to 11 points with two games in hand.

It followed Ardley’s 3-0 home win against Newbury on Saturday.

In Tuesday’s encounter, Highmoor started the stroner, with Jordan Brown proving a danger, but it was Ardley who went ahead on 18 minutes.

Ricky Johnson’s pass found Ingram who fired past Rob Tebby in the Highmoor goal.

Ardley doubled the lead on the half-hour mark when Joe Eyre cut in and beat a defender before slotting past Tebby.

At the other end, only a superb last-ditch tackle from Ben Thomas denied Jordan Brown as he went for goal.

Ardley made it 3-0 on 35 minutes when a kick from keeper Jack Harding found Eyre whose pass was fired in by Ingram for his second.

Ardley withstood some Hig-hmoor pressure at the start of the second half, before creating some of their own.

On the hour, Ingram saw his shot finger-tipped away by Tebby and they sealed victory on 65 minutes when Johnson headed in.

Highmoor were reduced to ten men in the 77th minute when Stephen Peacock was sent off for two bookings in quick succession.

The hosts then closed out the game without difficulty.

Ardley took the lead ten minutes into Saturday’s game when a Harry Brock cross was headed in at the far post by Ingram.

Ryan Brooks, playing his first game since re-joining Ardley on loan from Didcot Town, had a chance to make it 2-0, but Newbury keeper Freddie Gee denied him.

However, the striker made amends when he broke down the middle and wrong-footed a defender before beating Gee with a right-foot shot.

Ardley made the game safe just after the hour mark when Joe Eyre flicked the ball past Gee from close range after good work from Johnson.

This Saturday, Ardley host Chippenham Park in the first round of the FA Vase.
