Ardley United chairman Norman Stacey has paid tribute to boss Kevin Brock at the start of one of their biggest week’s in the club’s 69-year history.

On Saturday, they face Highworth Town in the semi-finals of the Bluefin Sports Cup and 48 hours later travel to Bracknell Town in their final Premier Division before taking on Kidlington in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup final next Thursday (kick-off 7.45) at the Kassam Stadium.

“We’re still in with a shout in three competitions, but we could end up with egg on our faces,” said Stacey.

“But whatever happens it’s been an enjoyable season.

“We’ve only got a small squad of 18 players, so to still be fighting on three fronts is a real feather in the cap for Kevin (Brock).

“Wantage (title rivals) have a squad of 30-40 players.”

He added: “We didn’t expect to get to the Senior Cup final and we have a good chance of winning it, but Kidlington have done very well this season, so it will be a tight game.”

It is the first all-Hellenic League final since 1985 when Morris Motors beat Bicester Town 1-0 at Witney. The scorer was ex-Bicester player Tim Walker.
