Ardley United assistant manager Brian Robinson has been recognised for devoting 60 years of his life to the game by the Football Association.
Robinson, 81, who played for Halifax Town, was presented with a long service award by David Tutton from the Oxfordshire FA.
“Robbie” as he is known, first came to the area when he was called up for national service and served in the British Army at Bicester, for whom he also played football.
After leaving the forces, he and his wife Pam, settled in Chesterton.
As well as playing for Town, Robinson turned out for Oxford City, mainly playing at right half.
After retiring from playing, he spent time on the management team at Bicester, Chipping Norton, Worcester City, Buckingham Town, Brackley Town and Banbury United.
During his career Robinson has been involved with five sides that have won the Hellenic Premier League title and he wants to make it six with Kevin Brock’s side this season.
