CRICKET: Rae wins race to 1,000-run mark

Ben Rae became the first player to reach 1,000 runs for the season with yet another century in Westbury's Oca League Division 1 victory over Great Horwood.

Batting first, Kiwi Rae hit 103 in Westbury's 233 all out, and, despite 115 from Sam Willett, Horwood were restricted to 200-7 in reply.

In Division 2, Marsh Gibbon went down to a 51-run defeat against East & West Hendred.

Miles Martin took 4-12 for Hendred as Marsh Gibbon were dismissed for 126, Stuart Leonard top-scoring with 30.

Earlier, East Hendred had posted 177.

Fringford defeated Radley by 55 runs.

Kevin Hicks (59) helped them to 166-9, before Ian Hedley took 4-31 as Radley were restricted to 111-9.

In Division 4, Westcott lost by four wickets against West Witney.

Westcott's 117 total was surpassed by Witney who got home, losing six wickets on the way.

Nick Turner captured 4-8 for Marsh Gibbon 2nd as they skittled Risinghurst for 79 in Division 7.

Derek Jeacock hit 56 as his side reached 143-8, before Turner and Dean Bosley (3-26) ripped through the Risinghurst batting.

In Division 9, John Fitsell hit 110 for Brill 2nd as they thumped Oxford Rescue 2nd by 196 runs.

Brill rattled up a decent total of 245-8, then Rescue crashed to 49 all out.
