Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts’ slim Division 1 title hopes suffered a big setback as leaders Oxford Downs scored ten runs from the final over of the day to seal a four-wicket win in a dramatic finish.

It now means Nondies realistically have to win their last five games and hope either Downs or Shipton slip up.

Pablo Mukherjee (52), Tim Rattigan (47) and Ayaz Khan (34) laid the platform in Nondies’ innings, before a late assault by Andrew Brown (34no) and James Green (31no) took them to 222-6.

Downs raced to 174-2, with Tim Sutton (77) and Andrew Buckingham (65) shining.

But Khan (4-46) stemmed the flow of runs to such an extent that a draw seemed likely until the finale, which went down to the last ball.

Nondies were penalised one point for their slow over rate.

l Nondies 9pts, Oxford Downs 25 Division 3 Zawar Hussain struck a classy 117 and Shahid Mahmood hit 74 as Twyford piled on 269 after being asked to bat by promotion rivals Bledlow Village.

Charlie Downes (53) got Bledlow off to a flier after tea, but from 78-0 after ten overs they collapsed to 176 all out against Bilal Afzal (6-57).

l Twyford 25, Bledlow Village 8 Bicester & North Oxford’s up-and-down season continued with a nine-wicket defeat at lowly Dinton 2nd.

Bicester were bundled out for 135 by Simon Kempster (4-69), Faisal Ali (3-20) and Kelvin Ripley (3-36).

Dinton then motored to 137-1 through Jamie Law (53no), Martin Sheffield (45no) and Archie Hammond (31).

l Dinton 2nd 25, Bic & N Oxford 3 Division 6 Half-centuries from Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts 2nd’s Anthony Benson and Kamran Ahmed were not enough to force a win against Sandford St Martin 2nd.

Benson made 66 and Ahmed 56 as Nondies declared on 247-7.

However, Sandford proved stubborn in reply as they held on for a draw, with eight wickets down.

l Sandford 2nd 10, Nondies 2nd 17 Division 7 Paul Sly’s 7-79 was not enough to save promotion-chasing Twyford 2nd from defeat to Bledlow Village 2nd.

Sly’s seven wickets restricted Bledlow to 216 all out, Harry Bartlett hitting 39 and Adam Tapping 35.

Twyford then collapsed to 138 all out, Lee Hodges making 30.

Olly Woodward (5-39) and Ben Moore (3-26) did the damage for Bledlow.
