NICK Moorman’s 108 not out and four wickets for Dan Savin saw Bicester & North Oxford make it three wins in a row with victory over Banbury 3rd.

Asked to bat by the visitors, Moorman and Matt Collins got Bicester off to a steady start in the Cherwell League Division 3 contest.

Olly Ward, who hit a 44-ball 50, joined Moorman at the crease and they put on 81, before he was dismissed.

Alister Gibbins (40) and Ryan Moore (22) also contributed as Bicester closed on 267-4.

Banbury meandered to 30-1, before Micky Thomas (48) and Neil Megson (30) frustrated the hosts.

The former fell to leave the visitors 81-2 and despite the best efforts of Thomas and Haris Naeem, they needed 140 off the final ten overs.

Wickets fell consistently, Sabin (4-36) taking his haul to 24 for the season as Banbury closed on 202-7.

Leaders Westbury were in a hurry as they hammered East Oxford by ten wickets at home.

The visitors were shot out for 69, Harry Williams taking 4-26 and George Markham 3-23.

Tom Gurney (39no) then led Westbury to 71-0.

In Division 1, Twyford beat Dinton by 120 runs.

Shabaz Alam struck 70 and Shahid Mahmood 59 as Twyford posted 263-9.

Dinton’s reply crumbled to 143 all out as Atif Ali took 6-25.

Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts shocked Division 3 leaders Bledlow Village with a 40-run victory to boost their chances of avoiding the drop.

Nondies had been bowled out for 163, Tom Moore taking 4-30, Joe Butler top-scoring with 32.

But three wickets apiece for Aadam Samiullah (3-20), Rustam Rabani (3-23) and Arfan Ahmed (3-24) sent Bledlow tumbling to 123 all out.

Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts lost by nine wickets at Banbury 4th in Division 6.

James Risbridger’s 6-35 had helped to dismiss Nondies for 181, Adeel Ahmed hitting 59 for the visitors.

Stuart Armstrong (114no) and Sophie Mitchelmore (41no) shared an unbroken stand of 181 for the second wicket to secure victory.

In Division 7, Bicester’s 2nd XI were forced to settle for a draw at Cublington.

Liam Randall’s 4-37 saw the hosts restricted to 168, Steve Godfrey hitting 86.

Joe Moorman (68no) and Ben Clark (46) helped the visitors to 124-2, but the rain arrived.

Bicester 3rd’s were forced to settle for a draw with Aston Rowant 5th in Division 10.

Mike Ilbery (33) and Dan Simpson (26) rescued Bicester from 38-4 to 124-9.

Rowant were 50-5 when the heavens opened.

In the OCA League, there was an extraordinary finish at Broughton & North Newington, where Marsh Gibbon edged home by one wicket.

With the scores level in the final over of the Division 2 match, an inside edge from Marsh Gibbon’s No. 11 clipped the leg stump, but did not remove the bails, allowing the visitors to scramble a single to secure victory.

Earlier, Paul Derry (71) and Andy Parsons (50) helped Broughton to 177-7.

Marsh Gibbon got to the final over with the scores level, thanks largely to Jayson Abbott (56no) and Joe Leonard (55).

The winning run in remarkable circumstances put the seal on a thrilling encounter.

In Division 3, Fringford picked up a rare victory, but remain bottom.

They ran out eight-run winners at Risinghurst in a match of 25 overs per side.

Shahin Ali hit 66 in Fringford’s 135-4, before Shaun Foote claimed 3-20 to help restrict Risinghurst to 127-7.

Division 4 leaders Brill marched on with a 174-run victory at home to Uffington.

Phil Chanel (69no), Dale Sweetman (63) and Jeremy Mansfield (53) helped Brill set 249-8.

Andy Wynd took 6-12 and Darren Kavanagh 3-16 as Uffington were shot out for 75 in reply.

Westcott 2nd fell to a six-wicket defeat at Wolvercote 2nd.
