ALISTER Gibbins made 92 not out as Bicester & North Oxford cruised to a ten-wicket victory at home to rock-bottom Great Brickhill in Cherwell League Division 3.

Chasing a target of 191, Bicester won with more than ten overs to spare.

Choosing to bat first, Great Brickhill soon found themselves in trouble, with the fiery Andy Godbold (3-43) the pick of the Bicester bowlers.

The rest of the wickets were shared around, with two apiece for Dan Savin, Danny Clark and Chris de Kock.

The only real resistance came from Drew Burrows’s with 82 not out as Brickhill finished their 50 overs on 190-9.

There were some early jitters in the Bicester reply, as they stumbled to 61-3.

But Gibbins and Olly Ward took the game by the scruff of the neck, and and guided the side to the brink of victory.

Nondies replied with an excellent 98 from Chris Day and 38 from Aadam Samiullah. But they were dismissed for 246.

Michael Peyton-Bruhl returned the remarkable figures of 9-21 to help Westbury 2nd to a crushing nine-wicket win at home to Long Marston in Division 7.

Sam Manning claimed the first Marston wicket, before Peyton-Bruhl took centre stage with a superb display of bowling to skittle the visitors for 65.

Warwick Bradfield (86no), Ben Clark (73no) and Adam Gould (60) helped Bicester & North Oxford 2nd rattle up 272-4 from their 45 overs away to Horspath 4th.

Three wickets each for Trevor Price (3-10) and Liam Randall (3-20) meant Horspath were never in the hunt, but they were able to cling on for a draw on 117-6.

There were runs galore for Bicester & North Oxford 3rd away to Dinton 3rd in Division 10.

Openers Mark Adams (127) and Stevyn Jackson (53) led Bicester to 292-5 from their 45 overs.

  • OLLY Ward smashed a brutal 74 as Cherwell Division 3 side Bicester and North Oxfordshire upset Home Counties Premier League opponents Shipton-under-Wychwood in the first round of Oxfordshire T20 competition.

Shipton cruised to 30-0 from the first three overs, but the introduction of spin twins Danny Clark and Liam Randall (3-14) slowed the scoring.

Dan Savin and Andy Godbold made amends for their earlier inaccuracy with some excellent bowling at the death to restrict Shipton to 122-5.

Ward’s knock – which included seven huge sixes and four fours – provided the backbone of the Bicester innings as they reached their target with two overs to spare.

George James (19no) saw the hosts over the line.
