MARK Strong’s half-century was in vain for Westcott as they fell to a crushing eight-wicket defeat at Witney Swifts in OCA League Division 2 on Saturday.
Batting first, Westcott set 175-7 as Strong top-scored with 69.
But half-centuries from Jason Seacole and Josh Grant led Swifts home at 180-2.
Marsh Gibbon fell to a 15-run defeat at home to Chipping Norton.
Chippy were all out for 158 as Carl Needham returned excellent figures of 6-30, while Charith Karawita hit 86 for the visitors.
Stuart Leonard (63) led Marsh Gibbon’s reply, but they were dismissed for 143 as Jim McGeown took 5-21.
Brill thrashed hosts Swinbrook by nine wickets in Division 4.
Darren Kavanagh (3-9) and Thomas Broughton (3-18) combined to dismiss Swinbrook for 71, before Brill cruised to 74-1.
In Division 8 North, Ollie Jeacock hit a superb century for Westcott 2nd as they ran out 38-run winners at Kidlington 3rd.
Jeacock’s 101 not out, plus 69 not out from Philip Bateman, helped Westcott to 249-5.
Lewis Jeacock then claimed 5-37 as Kidlington were restricted to 211-9 in their reply.
