MARSH Gibbon were shot out for just 58 as their OCA League Division 2 struggles continued with a 126-run defeat at home to Clifton Hampden on Saturday.

Richard Beard (77) and Morley Benson (50) helped Clifton set 184-6 in their 45 overs, before the home side fell for just 58 as David Skinner took 4-26 and Julian Hitchman 3-10.

In Division 3, a third-wicket stand of 147 between Alimar Khan (87) and Mark Strong (67) helped set Westcott on their way to a 120-run win at home to Kilkenny.

They posted 266-7, which proved way beyond Kilkenny, who slumped to 146 all out in reply as Khan took 4-46 to complete a fine all-round performance.

Fringford defeated visitors Eynsham by 55 runs.

Ian Hedley (61) and Royston Blake (59no) helped Fringford to 182 all out, Dave Harris taking 6-49 for the visitors.

Phil King then claimed 5-21 for Fringford as Eynsham were bowled out for 127, Sam Jones top-scoring with 41.

Brill’s hopes of going top of Division 5 were dashed as they fell to a 31-run defeat at Great Horwood 2nd.

With leaders Bampton out of action, a win for Brill here would have put them top, but a superb fourth-wicket stand of 151 between Simon Ridgway (99) and Simon Gale (65no) helped Horwood to 210-6.

Andrew Ellison then took a hat-trick in figures of 5-20 as Brill were bowled out for 179, Jeremy Mansfield hitting 65.

In Division 9, leaders Chesterton are virtually home and dry already as they stretched their lead at the top to 82 points with a game in hand.

They defeated visitors Deddington 2nd by 46 runs to march on at the top.

Daren Trinder (36) helped Chesterton to 180 all out, before Harinath Ellanki took 4-20 and Jimmy Appleton 3-16 in Deddington’s 134 all out.

Westcott 2nd eased to a 159-run win at Kidlington 3rd.

Mike Herriott hit 66 and Philip Bateman 49 not out in Westcott’s 231-9.

Pete Avery then claimed 3-8 as Kidlington fell to 72 all out.
