A half-century from Jake Kubinak was not enough to force a win for Twyford away to Oxford 2nd in Division 1 of the Cherwell League on Saturday.

The visitors’ openers managed only two runs between them after they had elected to bat first, before Kubinak’s 74 got them to 193-6 from 40 overs.

Left-arm spinner Bilal Afzal (3-28) opened the bowling for Twyford and made early inroads.

But Adam Hall (40no) held firm as Oxford finished on 93-4 from 22 overs.

Oxford 2nd 5pts, Twyford 11 Twyford 2nd were rolled over for 83 as they lost by 88 runs at Stokenchurch in Division 5.

Earlier Ian Perna took 3-27 in the visitors’ 171-7.

The rain came to Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts 2nd’s rescue at home to Banbury 4th in Division 6.

The hosts were 37-3 chasing Banbury’s 264-8 when the game was abandoned as a draw.

Lee James hit 44 as Bicester reached 165-8, with Billy Harper capturing 3-27.
