Mick Freshwater was the star of the show in the owners’ ranks last Saturday.

The Witney businessman had three open-class winners on a night which produced an attractive assortment of open races.

Freshwater’s winners were Slippery Patch, Barnish Booth and Inismore Impact – all of which are trained by Kevin Hutton, son of former Oxford bookmaker.

The feature race of the night, the Blanchford Building Supplies Oxfordshire Stakes, was won in good style by Henlow raider Warning Light (4-1).

Light made no mistake from the traps to lead all the way to win comfortably from Ballymac Eat (5-1) by two and three quarter lengths in 26.96secs. Zodiac Zeus never got in a run after a crowded start.

The night got the thumbs-up from the bookmakers on their busiest night of the year.
