Oxford Hawks women recorded their first win of the Investec Eastern Conference campaign when two quick goals from Becky Hibbert and Takara Haines helped them beat Sevenoaks 2-0 at Banbury Road North.

The first came from a breakaway down the right, with Kathryn Poulter driving to the baseline and crossing for Hibbert to finish well from close range.

Hawks’second strike came moments later, following a barrage of penalty corners.

A drag-flick from Haines, who returned from holiday that day, was stopped on the line by a Sevenoaks foot. Haines dispatched the resulting penalty stroke.

The second half continued in the same vein as the first, with Hawks, who welcomed back Kirsty Chapman from injury, almost extending their lead through Katie Hewitt.

In the last ten minutes, Sevenoaks applied more pressure, but excellent defending ensured a clean sheet.

Lisa Scragg scored twice as Oxford Hawks 2nd won 4-2 against Oxford University.

Hawks’ other goals came from Carina van Zijl and Claire Werlinger.

Witney's first match of the season in South Clubs League Division 3A did not go accordng to plan as they went down 2-0 at home to Hampstead and Westminster 2nd.

The hosts had several chances, but could not convert, despite the determined efforts of Hayley Dobson in midfield.
