DARTS: Shocks as big guns bow out

For the first time since the 1998-9 season, neither of the top two teams in the Premier Division will contest the Greene King ODDA Summer League ladies’ seven-a-side play-offs.

Champions Florence Park CC A were defeated by Gillans Bar in the preliminary round, while runners-up Nuffield Bar lost to Division 6 side Black Horse.

The play-offs will be held at Marston British Legion on Wednesday, October 10 (8.30pm), when the other teams taking part will be Donnington Community Centre A & C, Village Inn, Berinsfield CC, Catherine Wheel A and Vikings SC.

The men’s pairs preliminary play-offs resulted in wins for Headington British Legion B, Chequers Inn C, Cowley Workers B & C, and Kidlington Sports Club C. The finals will be played on a date to be arranged.

Entries for the ODDA’s 86th Winter League must be in by October 7.

The Summer League finals will be held at Oxford Social Club (Rover SC) on Friday, November 16.

The league’s annual meeting is on Saturday, October 20 (7.30pm).
