RUGBY UNION: Leverson's four-timer
11:00am Tuesday 11th September 2012 in Sport
JOE Leverson bagged four tries as Didcot got their BB&O Championship campaign off to a flier by defeating Faringdon 75-15.
Sam Lacy added a hat-trick, with Barry Llewellyn, Tom Kennedy, David Presley and John Stephens each scoring one.
Paul Costello converted ten of the 11 tries.
Gosford All Blacks were the only Oxfordshire side to ‘win’ in the BB&O Premier Division, but they had to make do with a walk-over.
Hosts Princes Risborough were left high and dry after Princes Risborough School failed to mark out a pitch.
Gosford captain Tim Ellis said: “Both their coach and captain were extremely embarrassed by the situation and something that we take for granted every week meant that none of us got a game at the weekend.
“As captain. I certainly bear no ill will towards Princes Risborough.
“Their players and coach have my sympathies as not only were we awarded a bonus-point win, but they were deducted five points.”
A lacklustre Bicester lost 40-17 at Swindon College Old Boys.
Bicester manged tries through wing Dave Aslett, flanker Jake Sawyer and prop Tom Horwood, with fly half Chris Nixon converting the latter effort.
The visitors lost centres Tom Bass (finger) and Dan Spencer (dead leg), plus lock Chris Clayton (dislocated thumb) to injury.
No 8 Matthew McKee (2), wing Daniel Cooper (2) and replacement lock Wood Briggs crossed over for Swindon, with fly half Scott Buchanan kicking 15 points.
Harwell , who won every match last season to secure promotion, were brought back to earth with a bump after a 78-0 hammering at Phoenix.
