CRICKET: McLaren bags eight wickets

JAMES McLaren took the first eight wickets as Shipton-under-Wychwood 3rd beat Tiddington 3rd by seven wickets to secure promotion from Division 9.

McLaren’s 8-83 helped Shipton dismiss Tiddington for 149, while Philip Wood and William Johnson-Coleman scored 32 not out and 32 respectively.

Russell Hayes led the way with 65 not out as Shipton reached 150-3. Wood completed a decent all-round match by taking 3-44.

Horley 2nd had already secured the title.

Twyford 2nd effectively guaranteed themselves promotion from Division 6 after beating nearest rivals Wolverton Town 2nd by five wickets.

They need just one more point to be sure of finishing second.

Zahid Ashraf took 6-26 including a hat-trick as Cumnor 3rd saw off Banbury 5th by 74 runs in their Division 7 basement battle. In Division 8, Ian Caunce cracked 126 as Oxford Downs 3rd compiled 238-7, but Cublington 2nd held on at 139-9.
