Alchester's Nigel Marley climbed to fourth in the senior men’s standings after finishing sixth in round four of the Oxford Mail Cross Country League at Cirence-ster Park.

Marley clocked 33mins 10secs for the 8.5km course on a day when numbers were reduced by the snow and freezing conditions, which prevented many competing.

Alchester were also boosted by Eddie O’Gorman, who like Marley, runs second claim for the club, was tenth in 33.38.

Clubmate Jon Burgess lies eigth in the vet 50 standings after coming 75th at Cirencester in 39.01.

Alchester men’s A team are second in Division 2 on 2,118 points, with White Horse A top on 1,785.

Their ladies are 25th of 26 teams in Division 2 after Clare Burgess proved their sole runner.

Bicester’s Sophie Wheeler, who did not run at Cirenc-ester, tops the under 11 girls’ standings.

Clubmate Tom Gould is tenth in the under 13 boys’ standings, while Fergus Jones and Tom Couzens are seventh and eighth respectively am-ong the under 11 boys.
