DAVE Kuester landed the gold medal for the third year in a row in the MMTG British Decathlon Throws Championships in Derby.

Kuester, competing in the 65+ age group, amassed an impressive points tally of 4,903.

He threw personal bests in the 7.5kg brick (7.78m), 250g club (43.27m) and heavy hammer (16.36m).

The following day, Kue-ster grabbed another two gold medals in the Welsh Masters Track & Field Championships in Cardiff.

Kuester threw 30.66m to win the hammer and 9.49m in the shot.

He also took silver in the discus (29.74) and javelin (29.06).

PAUL Fernandez of Ab-ingdon Amblers, triumphed for the second year in a row in the 32nd Otmoor Chall-enge on Saturday.

Fernandez improved on last year’s time by 38 secs, recording 1 hr 17 mins 17 secs, but was hard-pressed by Merton College’s Tucker Murphy, who was second in 1.17.38.

James Bolton (Woodstock Harriers) was third in 1.18.50.

John Atyeo (Oxford City) won the vet 40 prize, with Heine van Zyl clinching the superverts competition.

In the ladies’ race, Jessica Leitch won in 1.31.26, seeing off Alchester’s Liz Grol-imund, who took the runners-up spot in 1.33.42.

Sarah Rendell, also of Alchester, was third in 1.35.01.

The men’s team prize went to Oxford City A, while Headington Roadrunners A won the women’s category.

The Ogden Trophy, donated in memory of Ted Ogden, one of the founders of the Otmoor Challenge, was awarded to the 100th runner to cross the line, Jeremy Lockett, from Maidenhead.
