FOOTBALL: Sweeney swoops to seal Fritwell revival

Fritwell showed off their battling qualities as they fought back from a goal down to beat Kennington 2-1 in the Premier Division of the Oxfordshire Senior League on Saturday.

It was one of the few games in the area to survive the freezing weather.

All the goals were scored in the first half.

Michael Woodward gave Kennington an early lead following a breakaway.

A flurry of two strikes in two minutes just before the break from David Iglus and Dan Sweeney just before the break did the damage for Fritwell.

The result means Fritwell are just two points and a place behind local rivals Bletchingdon, who are in seventh in the table.

Ben Hookham hammered a hat-trick for Charlton Uni-ted against Oakley Res in Division 3.

However, he ended up on the losing side as they went down to a 4-3 defeat against the second place side.

Jamie Smith (2), Dean Boyles and Dave Jefferson were on target for Oakley to leave Charlton two places off the bottom of the table.
