EDDIE Pepperell stormed into a share of the lead at the halfway stage of the Portugal Masters in Vilamoura.
The world No 55, from Abingdon, fired seven birdies in a second-round 66 to add to his 64 on the first day.
After birdies at the third and fifth holes, Pepperell had a double-bogey five at the par-three sixth.
But he bounced back with a birdie at the next and four more on the back nine gave him a share of the lead.
The Frilford Heath golfer stands on 12 under par, alongside Australian Lucas Herbert, and England’s Oliver Fisher, who made history by becoming the first player to shoot a 59 on the European Tour.
