Ricky Holmes looks set to become Oxford United’s ninth signing of the summer.

Reports in Yorkshire suggest the 31-year-old winger will be joining from Sheffield United on loan.

If confirmed by United, he would be the second player to make the switch from Chris Wilder’s side in pre-season, following Samir Carruthers last month.

Holmes has worked with U’s boss Karl Robinson before, when the pair were at Charlton Athletic.

The former Northampton Town player left the Valley in January for an undisclosed fee, signing a contract until summer 2020.

But he started just one game for the Blades in the second half of last season.
