JON Obika continued his hot streak in pre-season with two goals to help Oxford United to a comfortable 5-1 friendly victory at Court Place Farm.

It took the striker’s haul to five goals in three games and he threatened to complete a first hat-trick in United colours before being replaced.

Armani Little also bagged a brace at Oxford City, sandwiching Shandon Baptiste’s shot in a rapid three-goal burst in the second half.

Kabongo Tshimanga’s penalty ensured the home side had something to cheer about, before a flurry of substitutions disrupted the flow of the game.

For United, it only served as the first half of their double-header, with some players heading to Hampton & Richmond for a 4pm kick-off.

Obika was the first to threaten, forcing a smart save from City goalkeeper Craig King in the seventh minute.

The game was also a chance for City supporters to see their summer signings for the first time.

Up front, Tshimanga impressed, showing strength to roll Charlie Raglan on the edge of the box and unleash a shot which Simon Eastwood gathered at the second attempt.

But with Cameron Brannagan pulling the strings on his return from a virus, United got on top.

King saved with his legs to deny Obika just before a drinks break for both sides at a baking Court Place Farm.

The visitors pressed again after the restart, with Obika breaking the deadlock on 27 minutes.

Baptiste, who had laid on his three goals during the tour of Ireland, was again the provider for the striker to round King and lash into the open net.

The game went flat before the break, but United romped to a comfortable win in the second half.

Obika doubled his tally two minutes after half-time. Collecting a cross from Little with his back to goal, he turned and shot in off the far post.

Matt Paterson’s lob went inches wide at the other end, before three goals in four minutes took United well clear.

Little finished confidently from a tight angle after being slid in by Cameron Norman’s pass to make it 3-0.

Baptiste trickled in an effort from the edge of the box a minute later, before Little slammed in his second goal on the rebound when Brannagan’s shot was well saved.

City did get on the board when Tshimanga was fouled in the box by substitute goalkeeper Jack Stevens, with the striker picking himself up and converting from 12 yards.

It was quickly followed by United making nine changes, and the young side were unable to add to the scoreline in the closing stages.
