BICESTER Blue Fins teenagers Josh Rowland, Ben Inness and Grace Bradney claimed impressive medal hauls in Maxwell SC’s June Level 3 meet at Aylesbury.

Rowland, 18, struck gold in the 50m butterfly, while he also took silver in the 100m IM, and bronzes in both the 200m individual medley (IM)and 100m freestyle.

Inness, 17, celebrated double gold medals in the 200m IM and 200m butterfly, and also claimed silver in the 50m backstroke – all three in personal best times.

Bradney, 13, claimed five silvers in the 200m IM, 100m freestyle, 50m freestyle, 200m freestyle and 100m backstroke, bagging five pbs in the process.

Luca Soleil-Arnephy, 16, secured a silver medal in the 200m breaststroke and bronze in the 100m butterfly.

There were also bronzes medals for Bicester’s Will Jones, 12, in the 100m freestyle, Caitlin Laverick, 14, in the 100m freestyle and Ollie Gore, 15, in the 200m breaststroke.

Hermione Smith, 14, returned in fine form after a break from competition, with pbs in all six of her top ten finishes.

Considering the level of competition against strong clubs such as Maxwell, Abingdon Vale, Didcot Barramundi and Wycombe District, Blue Fins were encouraged by the performances from their 21-strong squad.

Head coach Craig Oliver said: “This meet was fantastic. The swimmers were on fire for this competition and smashed times and targets throughout the weekend.

“We had swimmers only entering for one day to allow for before our own meet next weekend, but we still took home three golds, eight silvers and seven bronzes”
