SIMON Barnaby starred with a super second place at the prestigious Bloodwise Blenheim Triathlon.

Competing in the 30-34 age group, the Bicester TC member completed the sprint distance in a blistering time of 1hr 7mins 18secs.

Next best for the club was Martyn Lever with 1.26.52, while Elliot Newman produced a course personal best of 1.27.47.

They were followed by Royston Oxendale (1.35.54), Mike Spencer-Jones (1.36.26), Stella Lever (1.42.10), Camilla Corsan (1.43.34), Louise Hughes (1.46.54), Michelle Davis (1.47.24), Steph Harrison (2.02.23) and David Dicker (2.05.30).

In the Super Sprint, Sarah Kellett recorded an impressive 1.21.53, while Jason Cunningham competed as a ‘Weekend Warrior’ and completed a total of six triathlons over the two days with times between 1.26.0 and 1.49.0.

The event drew an amazing 7,000 competitors and raised more than £250,000 for the Bloodwise charity.

Meanwhile Bicester juniors Edward Jolliffe and his sister Anna shone at Shiplake College Triathlon, swimming in the Thames before heading out on the bike and run disciplines.

Edward was the seventh boy to finish in 34.34, while Anna came fourth in the Tri-Star girls event in 25.41.

Lucy and Jack Mcgrath were category winners at the Buckingham Triathlon.

Lucy was first in the youth section, with a time of 35mins 26secs, while Jack won the TriStar 1 race.

l Bicester Triathlon club’s Jo Gundle celebrated retaining her title at the Otmoor Challenge Half Marathon in a time of 1hr 45mins 22secs, defying the warm and muddy conditions to win the ladies supervet category.
