TWO wins in four days have taken Ardley United 11 points clear in Division 1 West.

Billy Gillett scored a hat-trick as they triumphed 4-0 away to Headington Amateurs in the Uhlsport Hellenic League on Saturday.

Ten-man Ardley followed that up with a 2-0 win at Cheltenham Saracens on Tuesday.

Boss Craig Adey demanded his team to come out of the blocks quickly at Headington.

And they certainly did not let him down, as Gillett scored in the first minute.

Just ten minutes later, Gillett added a second goal after wave upon wave of attack.

Headington were unlucky not to be awarded a penalty just before half-time as the referee judged a foul to be committed outside the area, which was strongly contested by the home team.

The second half saw the hosts attempt to get back into the game.

But with Daniel West and Mikey McKirnon in great form at the back, there was no way through for the hosts.

Daniel Leggett went off with an injury for Ardley.

But there was no respite for the hosts, as his replacement Dean Boyd scored the visitors’ third goal on 75 minutes with a well-taken shot inside the near post from a corner.

Ardley finished the job off with a last minute goal for Gillett to complete his hat-trick, when he skipped through and round the keeper for a simple tap in and a 4-0 win.

On Tuesday, first-half goals from Deon Gallacher and Troy Bryan put them in charge at Cheltenham Saracens.

They held on without due alarm despite having Greg Hackett sent off in the second half.

This Saturday, Adey’s side travel to Kidlington Res.

Bicester Town went back to to the top of the table, but had to work hard before sealing a 2-0 win at home to basement club Milton United.

The first half of the Division 1 East clash was goalless, but the hosts took charge after the break.

It took an own goal in the 66th minute from Tom White to put Bicester in front.

Ricardo Benjamin sealed the victory from the penalty spot in the 79th minute.

Bicester will be aiming to stay ahead when they entertain Wallingford Town this Saturday.
