BEN West produced another dominant display to claim victory in the third round of the Oxford Mail Cross Country League at Adderbury.

The event, jointly organised by Bicester and Banbury Harriers, also doubled up as the Oxfordshire Cross Country Championships.

The hosts’ strongest turnout was in the combined under 15/17 race, with West claiming an emphatic victory to be crowned county champion in the older age category.

Clubmate Max Nicolle also put in a strong performance, finishing fourth overall to land silver in the under 15 boys, which keeps him third in the standings.

Bicester’s under 13 boys impressed when placing third, with Oliver Conway leading the team home in seventh.

Clubmates Lucy McGrath and Imogen Cox enjoyed a decent battle with the former holding off her teammate by just one second to finish 12th.

Bicester’s Owen Stocker recorded one of his highest-placed finishes when crossing 15th in the under 11 boys race.

Alanna O’Neill was the first home for the north Oxfordshire club in the girls equivalent as she finished 19th.

Jago Newton was Bicester’s best performer in the under nine mixed boys and girls race when crossing 11th.

In the senior women’s event, Alchester’s Jenny McBain took county bronze in the vet 35 category.
