OXFORD City are set for a major pay day after learning their Emirates FA Cup tie against Notts County will be shown live on BT Sport.

The Vanarama National League South club will receive £72,000 as a result of the television deal.

City’s second round tie at Meadow Lane on Saturday, December 2, has also been moved to a 12.30pm kick-off.

Director of football Justin Merritt was thrilled to learn the news and does not want the Cup run to stop.

He said: “It's obviously fantastic for us as a club, we're delighted.

“We were hopeful of a highlights package, but to get a live game, it makes the world of difference to us.

“We set some goals and objectives at the start of the season and one of those was to get to the first round.

“A lot of that is luck of the draw and fortunately we had some great wins along the way and, to top it off, we won again at Colchester.

“That has really put us back on the map.”

The part-timers recorded one the surprise results of the first round in beating Sky Bet League Two outfit Colchester United 1-0 earlier this month.

Matt Paterson’s goal saw Mark Jones’s side earn a maiden victory over a Football League club and reach the second round for the first time since 1969-70.

City, who have progressed from the second qualifying round, have earned £42,500 in the Cup so far, with a further £27,000 on offer if they beat League Two leaders County.
