SIX Bells E Kidlington came out on top in a three-way battle for the Section 2 title, writes ANDY BEAL.

Needing all three points to secure the crown, they duly beat their D team 3-0 in the Greene King Oxford & District League.

The E side won the first leg 21-16, before Robin Busby and Ray Townsend both hit fives to help them set 26, which was met with a reply of 22.

A 22-16 win in the final leg secured maximum points and the title.

Bullnose Morris A had been hoping for a slip-up, but missed out by two points as they beat Donnington Club A 2-1.

Chequers C’s bid faltered in a 2-1 defeat at Black Horse C.

Chris Webb hit 11 dolls to finish as the section’s top-scorer with 202 as Gladiators B beat Vikings Sports A 3-0.

Dick Walsh ended the season with a flurry, bagging himself a six in his 16-doll haul (6-5-5).

But it could not prevent Swan A, who won the opening leg, losing 2-1 at Woodman.
