OXFORD United’s pre-season preparations will go up a notch tonight when they host Brentford at the Kassam Stadium.

With the cancellation of next week’s trip to Lincoln City, the clash with the Bees is one of only three warm-up fixtures remaining.

It will be the first time manager Pep Clotet takes charge of a home game, while new signings Dwight Tiendalli and Xemi could feature for the first time.

Defender Christian Ribeiro is looking forward to a tough workout against a side which finished tenth in the Sky Bet Championship last season.

He said: “There is always a pressure, even in warm-up games, but it brings that bit of intensity of being at home and getting used to your surroundings.

“Our opposition are going to be of a really good standard, so we will be playing against players who are better than League One standard.

“If we can get used to playing against that then it bodes well for the first game of the season when we come back to our level.”
