SAM Rayson showed his versatility by winning gold medals in both the under 13 long jump and 75 metres hurdles in the Oxfordshire Track and Field Championships at Horspath.

The Bicester AC youngster won the long jump against a big field with a leap 4.23m.

Next day, Rayson, competing in his specialist event the 75m hurdles, won in a time of 13.80secs.

There was another Bicester win in the senior ladies’ long jump through Emily Benfield (4.14).

There were four further gold medals for the club.

Max Nicolle produced a superb effort to win the under 15 800 metres, recording a personal best time of 2.15.51.

This was just reward for Nicolle, who had earlier secured bronze medals in the 1500 metres (4.39.57) and 300 metres (42.33).

Amber Parker followed her second place in the under 15 hammer with victory in the discus (22.77). She also gained a bronze in the shot.

Bicester’s Keiran Finch struck gold in the under 20 high jump (1.60m), with Tom Couzens managing likewise in the under 17 competition (1.55m).

Ben West again performed well with a silver in the under 17 boys’ 1,500 metres (4.19.52).

Samuel White’s fine start to the season was rewarded with third place in the under 15 boys’ 100 metres final .

Ben Groves competed well in the under 13 boys high jump, taking joint silver with an effort of 1.30.

Couzens also took third in the triple jump with a personal best of 10.30.

Another third place came from Connor Wilce in the under 20 triple jump with 11.02.

And in the under 13 girls’ 1,500 metres, Georgia Usher was third in 5.35.40.

Another athlete to reach a sprint final was Isla Bohannon, who set a pb in the under 13 girls’ 100 metres. And in the under 13 girls’ long jump Amy Willis came ninth with with a personal best leap of 3.66m.
