THERE were three victories out of three for Berinsfield ABC fighters, who made the 400-mile round trip to Torrington in North Devon.

Joel Pownceby and Kiel Merritt stopped their opponents, while super-heavyweight Tom ‘The Bolt’ Bachelor won on a unanimous points verdict.

First up in a 43kg bout was Pownceby, who made a slow start against Edward Pettifer, from the host club.

But the Berinsfield man went on to the front foot in the second round and forced the home boxer into a standing count.

The fighters went toe-to-toe in the final round, but Pownceby proved stronger and the referee stopped the contest in his favour.

Merritt, fighting at 53kg, went straight onto the attack against Cody Berry (Devonport).

Berry was forced to take a standing count at the start of the second round, shortly before the referee stopped the contest.

Bachelor found himself up against a 123kg man mountain in Henry Jones.

The Devon fighter kept coming forward throwing huge bombs, but could not connect.

Bachelor kept him at bay for three rounds with his precise jab to gain a unanimous verdict.
