OXFORD driver Andy Wallace has been nominated for a place in the Motor Sport Hall of Fame.

Wallace is one of the most successful drivers in sports car racing.

He has won more than 25 international events including the Le Mans 24 Hours, the Daytona 24 Hours (three times), the Sebring 12 Hours (twice) and Petit Le Mans.

He also broke the world speed record for production cars when he drove a McLaren F1 at 240.14mph (386.47kph) in Germany – a record which stood for more than 11 years.

Entries in to the Hall of Fame are decided by a public vote and the winners will be announced in a ceremony at the Royal Automobile Club at Woodcote Park on June 7.

WITNEY’S James Hall and navigator Simon Bradley were delighted after coming third in the first round of the British Junior Rally Championship in Anglesey.

Starting fifth, Hall moved up to third on the first two stages and pressed for second place during stages three and four.

The last two stages caught the team out, as the car was set up with dry tyres, only for the heavens to open just before the start, but they were able to hang on to third place.

Hall said: “I’m over the moon to start the year on the podium.”

NISSAN GT Academy racer Romain Sarazin will partner young Briton Charlie Fagg during the opening round of the GT4 European Series Northern Cup at Misano in Italy, when Chipping Norton’s SWR make their endurance racing debut on April 1-2.

Sarazin was teammate to SWR owner Sean Walkinshaw at Nissan GT Academy Team RJN in the Blancpain Endurance Cup last year.
