MATT Williams is hoping another bumper crowd at Kingsey Road can inspire his promotion-pushing Chinnor side to maintain their unbeaten home record.

The National League 2 South leaders host Cinderford, who are on a seven-match winning run, on Saturday.

Williams feels the Gloucestershire side pose the biggest threat to Chinnor’s unblemished home record since the visit of Old Elthamians in November, which attracted more than 1,000 supporters.

The director of rugby is hoping for a similar call to arms this weekend.

Speaking to the fans, he said: “It is not a coincidence we won (that game) convincingly.

“Your voice raised the boys to a new level.”

This weekend could turn out to be pivotal in the promotion race, with second-placed Bishop’s Stortford travelling to Taunton Titans, who sit fourth.

Old Elthamians in third also face a tough trip to fifth-placed Redruth.

Williams added: “Everyone will be looking at our result this weekend.

“If all three home teams win it takes away the game in hand Bishop’s Stortford, who are favourites for the league, have got and it puts Old Elthamians a couple of games off the play-offs.

“I feel it’s a very big weekend.”
