ALCHESTER’S Jenny McBain is waiting to find out if she is a world record holder after completing the Abingdon Marathon.

The Vet 35 runner was hoping to set the fastest time over the 26-mile distance dressed as a playing card.

McBain, who finished ninth in her age category and 222nd overall in 3hrs 18mins 54secs is awaiting confirmation of beating the previous world record of 4hours 5mins.

She said: “I am local and have done the marathon three times now.

“I have had a chesty virus for a few weeks so I wanted to really enjoy it and have a bit of fun.

“I dressed as the Queen of Hearts to help raise awareness of the British Heart Foundation as a close friend’s baby was born with heart problems and had to go through serious surgery.

“If I get this world record I am considering trying it as a hotdog and a toilet.”
