RAMPANT Chinnor ran in an impressive 12 tries to hammer Barnstaple 76-5 and make it four wins on the bounce.

Danny Barnes crossed for a hat-trick, while fly half Bertie Hopkin scored 21 points as they moved up to second in National League 2 South.

Hosts Chinnor were on the attack from the start and Tom Burns went over on two minutes, with Hopkin adding the extras.

After ten minutes it was 19-0, thanks to Bevon Armitage and Henry Lamont tries.

Hopkin converted the first score.

Barnstaple’s Hilton was then sin-binned for an illegal interference, leading to a penalty try which Hopkin had no trouble converting.

A rolling maul led to a CJ Osazuwa score.

And at half-time it was 40-0 as Chinnor overturned the ball and Armitage dotted down for his second.

Hopkin converted both tries.

Barnstaple emerged from the break in determined fashion and Hilton dotted down.

But it was to be their only score as the hosts continued their dominance.

Player-coach Junior Fatialofa intercepted a pass to cross for Chinnor’s seventh try.

Winger Lamont then scorched down the touchline for his second score.

Both tries were unconverted as the hosts led 50-5.

Barnes then took over, scoring a hat-trick of tries in the space of 15 minutes to increase their lead.

Hopkin added the extras on all three occasions to make it 71-5.

The half back then completed the scoring with an unconverted try on 79 minutes.
