OXFORD Hawks suffered their their second successive defeat in the Ladies’ Investec Western Conference when they lost 3-0 away to Trojans.

After trailing 1-0 at half-time, Hawks stepped up a gear in the second half and enjoyed the lion’s share of possession, but could not convert clear-cut chances.

Trojans made it 2-0 with a breakaway goal.

Hawks threatened, with Gemma Darrington and Becky Odlin causing problems, but they were punished at the death as the hosts added a third goal.

Oxford began their South Clubs League Division 2 campaign with a 5-1 defeat away to Banbury.

After going 2-0 behind, Oxford pulled a goal back when Jess Upjohn and Jen Johnson set up Floor Timmer to score on her debut.

Banbury made it 3-1 before the break and added two more goals in the second half, despite some brave saves from Oxford keeper Emma Henriksen.

Sunny Ricketts scored twice in Witney’s 6-3 victory at home to West Hampstead in Division 3A.

Witney raced into a 3-0 lead through Marie Vincent (2) an Lucy Reading, but then in a flash Hampstead stormed back to make it 3-3.

Ricketts’s brace put Witney back in charge, before Ellie Kearney wrapped things up with their sixth goal.

Bicester drew 1-1 away to Thame in Premier Division 2 of the Trysports Three Counties League.

Hannah Newell put Bicester ahead midway through the first half, when slotting a rebound shot past the keeper.

Thame equalised early in the second half, but Bicester finished on top without finding the winning goal, despite the efforts of Ashley Foote.

On Sunday, Oxford 2nd lost 5-2 away to Hampstead & Westminster in the first round of the England Women’s 2nd XI Cup. Laura Smyth scored both Oxford’s goals.

JACOB Deacon gave a master class with five second-half goals as Witney's men routed Abingdon 9-0 in their last pre-season friendly.
Witney led 3-0 at half-time through Ben Wells, Harry Harbage and Justin Peel.
Early in the second half, Abingdon came more into the game, before Deacon took the game by the scruff of the neck with his five goals. Ben Moss was Witney’s other second-half scorer, while teammate Justin Peel suffered a serious wrist injury.
