BANBURY United produced a devastating three-goal blitz in six minutes to see off visitors Kings Langley 3-0 on Saturday.

The Puritans’ fifth successive victory in all competitions lifted them to fifth in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division table.

The early stages of the contest between two teams promoted to the top flight this season gave no indication of the drama to come.

Then, in the 24th minute, Oxford United loanee George Jeacock latched on to a long pass to lift the ball over the on-rushing keeper Danny Boness.

Three minutes later, Conor McDonagh, making his full debut having signed from Oxford City last week, was played in by Callum White’s neat reverse pass and lashed a first-time shot in to the roof of the net to make it 2-0.

Banbury’s third goal came from the captain on the day, Ricky Johnson, took the armband due to the suspension of Andy Gunn, who was sent off at Chippenham a fortnight ago.

After half-an-hour, Zac McEachran played a short corner and upon receiving the ball back, crossed it into the area where it was met by Johnson’s powerful header.

That, in effect, sealed the points.

Kings Langley saw a lot of the ball in the second half but lacked any cutting edge.

Mike Ford’s side, who were proficient in seeing out the win, will hope to keep up the good run at home to Merthyr Tydfil tomorrow night.
