CITY of Oxford’s Francisco Duarte was all smiles after winning the novice sculls event at Bewdley Regatta.

In addition to furthering his own sculling since taking up the sport two years ago, Duarte is a stalwart of the coaching team with the adaptive rowers at the club.

The group is continually on the look-out for volunteers to give more disabled individuals opportunities on the river.

Further afield, Tilly Catlin, from St Edward’s School, and Liz Haskins, from Headington School, were both in the England team that won the Home International Regatta in Cardiff.

They raced in both the coxed four and eight, winning double gold and helping the junior women’s team to victory.

Former City of Oxford sculler, Tom Placidi, now at Leander, was in gold medal form in England’s junior quad scull.
