THE Division 1 title in the Bridle Insurance Oxfordshire League could be decided tonight when leaders Headington face second-placed Carterton.

Headington’s 6-0 victory at City and County moves them wellclear of chasers Carterton, who only scraped home 3½-2½ against Shiplake.

Carterton won on a single rink, but still took the match points from Shiplake as David Clanfield’s team won by13 shots.

Given their season, Shiplake can consider themselves unlucky.

They could still avoid relegation, but will need to beat Witney Mills 6-0 next week to do so.

Banbury Central almost ensured their safety with a 4-2 defeat of Witney Mills, Nigel Galletly and Will Campion skipping rinks that won by small margins.

The result leaves Mills in danger of returning to Division 2 after one season.

Bicester’s 5-1 defeat at home to Charlbury means they are relegated from Division 2.

A good win for Kevin Taylor’s rink was insufficient, with Eric Pitts men winning by 28 shots for the visitors.

Lee Wilkinson led the way as Banbury Chestnuts won 5-1 away to promotion-chasing West Witney.

Watlington are in control of their own destiny after their 4-2 win at home to Adderbury.

Division 3 leaders Kidlington secured promotion and their unbeaten record with a 3½-2½ victory at Headington B.

Chadlington need three points from their last two matches to get promoted from Division 4 after their 6-0 whitewash of Oxford University Press, courtesy of big wins from their victorious skips Ron Arthur and Carl Smart.
