BICESTER Boxing Club’s Adi Burden excelled on his professional debut to knockout Tamas Danko in three rounds.

The labourer, from Bicester, has been training under head coach Daza Usher and put in a great performance at York Hall in London.

Burden was delighted to begin with a victory and is now focused on improving on his first fight.

The 21-year-old said: “It feels good to start my professional career with a victory, especially as I managed to get my opponent out of there early.

“The coaching at Bicester Boxing Club has been second to none.

“They have whipped me into great shape and I am learning everytime I’m in the gym.

“I’m looking forward to getting back in the gym to keep improving.”

Burden and Danko both weighed in at 12st 9lbs for the four-round fight and the Bicester boxer took control from the start, making the most of his superior jab.

A looping right hand from Burden connected on Danko’s chin towards the end of the round, but he managed to shake it off.

He stepped up the intensity in the second, punching with more authority and pushing the Bulgarian back to the ropes before unloading a series of hooks and uppercuts.

Danko took a lot of punishment, but survived the round.

Burden was sent out for the third to finish off the job and he did not disappoint.

Unsteady on his feet as a result of an onslaught of punches, Danko was left in pain on the canvas after being caught by a left hook to the body from Burden in the last minute, leading to the referee ending the contest.

Usher said: “It’s good to get Adi off to a winning start in his professional career.

“He is still very young and has plenty of years left to make a real impression on the professional boxing scene.”

“Adi has been working hard in the gym and he has shown great improvement.

“He’ll now take a few days off before getting back in the gym to prepare for his next contest.”
